Experience, Training & Values
Mairead, a writer, activist, and educator, earned a B.A. in Writing, Literature, and Publishing from Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts. She continued her studies with intensive literature and poetry programs at Richmond, The American International University in London, England, before starting a career in publishing at Condé Nast in New York City.
She obtained an M.A. in Education from CUNY Brooklyn College, in New York, and is certified as an Emotionally Intelligent Leadership trainer, Conflict Resolution and Negotiation workshop facilitator, Peer Support counselor and TESOL/TESL/TEFL certified instructor.
She then applied her skills in various roles in the non-profit sector, working in education at the Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund, where she trained national youth activists and built educational partnerships in Cuba, Mexico and Brazil.
She continued her education by leading arts courses, assisting with playwriting workshops at Harvey Milk High School, conducting youth development training with The All Stars Project, and launching programs at The Boys Club of New York, Academic Achievement, Promise Academy and other organizations.
By balancing communication, literacy, wellness practices, and the arts, she offers workshop facilitation, writing, and curriculum consultation services.
